The Faculty of Medicine’s Medical Emergency Team Aids Victims of Masamba Floods


The Calcaneus Medical Emergency Team (TBM) at the Faculty of Medicine Hasanuddin University provided humanitarian assistance in Masamba city of the North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. Due to the overflow of Masamba river, flash floods occurred on Monday 13/7/2020, resulting in the loss of lives as well as massive destruction of surrounding villages, homes, markets, offices, and other public facilities.

TBM is fully supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof.dr.Budu, PhD, Sp.M (K), M.Med as well as the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni, dr. Firdaus Hamid, PhD. The chair of TBM, Sahrul Fajar Perdana, reported that the TBM emergency team arrived in the area on 15/07/2020 and have provided medical aid and distributed medical equipment, medications, and donations to the community. The team worked in coordination with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and the local governement.
